Reading Patient Summaries

A guide to interpreting each tab in the physician patient view and getting the most clinical value from the data in the shortest time.

Navigating the Patient View

From your dashboard, click any patient's name to open their summary. The page opens on the Overview tab with an AI clinical brief. The seven tabs load their charts lazily — click a tab to initialize it.

Tab-by-Tab Guide

Overview Tab

The overview tab is designed for the 60-second pre-appointment scan. It contains:

  • AI Clinical Brief — a narrative summary of the patient's recent trends across pain, nutrition, bowel, glucose, and labs. Refreshes daily.
  • Key metrics — 30-day average pain score, worst episode, steatorrhea alert (if triggered), current glucose reading
  • Alerts — yellow banner for steatorrhea risk (3+ loose stools or 2+ oily stools in 30 days)

Pain Tab

Shows a line chart of daily average pain scores. Use the range buttons (7d, 14d, 30d, 60d, 90d) to zoom in or out. The chart highlights severe days (score ≥ 7) with red markers. Below the chart: total logs, average score, and severe episode count for the selected period.

Nutrition Tab

Bar chart of daily fat intake in grams. Horizontal reference lines at 10g and 40g mark the low-fat and high-fat thresholds. Days exceeding 40g are shown in orange. Use this to correlate high-fat days with the pain chart on the day after.

Glucose Tab

Displays the last 24 hours of individual CGM readings if the patient has connected Dexcom. Three stat cards show: current reading, Time in Range (with above/below breakdown), and 24-hour stats (avg, min, max). The chart line is color-coded — green for in-range, amber for high, red for low.

💡

If the Glucose tab shows "No CGM data," the patient has not connected a Dexcom device or has not synced recently. Encourage them to sync before their appointment.

Bowel Log Tab

Stacked bar chart of daily stool entries categorized by Bristol type (hard, normal, soft, loose). A separate metric tracks oily/fatty stools. The steatorrhea alert threshold is displayed if triggered.

Lab Values Tab

Shows the most recent value for each of the 13 tracked lab types, grouped by category. Values outside the reference range display a colored indicator and a Review button. Clicking Review marks that result as acknowledged — the badge count on the Lab tab header decreases accordingly.

Notes Tab

A free-text field for private physician notes about the patient. These notes are visible only to you — the patient cannot see them. Notes are timestamped and appended, not overwritten.

Printing the Patient View

Use your browser's print function (Ctrl+P / Cmd+P) on any patient page. All tabs expand automatically in print mode and charts are optimized for black-and-white output.
